I think the subway is the easiest and quickest way to get around the city. One of my favorite places to go is the Museum of Natural History and the subway is one of the best ways to get there, especially if I am all the way downtown!
I just got this perfect new pink scooter so I can get to all my appointments on time! Today I am getting a manicure before meeting some friends for a matinee show at the theater. I won’t ever have to be late again waiting for a cab or subway!
I was in the mood for some japanese ramen and recently tried the restaurant Ippudo New York. It is a famous noodle shop from Japan and it was really delicious! It has a great menu and is a fun and lively place to go. You definitely should try it the next time you in the East Village.
I was so happy to see an exhibition of one of my favorite artists, Yoshitomo Nara, at the Asia Society. The show is called “Nobody’s Fool” and is an extensive retrospective of all his work. The exhibition has some really cool installations that showcase his art. I won’t spoil the fun of discovering for yourself what a wonderful exhibition it is!
Kiwi loves to go to museums, so he came with me to see it. Below is a picture of us with one of the two really cool sculptures by Nara that is right outside of the Asia Society.
I love to meet friends at The Coffee Shop when I know I will be in Union Square. I even like to go by myself to people watch. There is always so much going on and it is always busy-they are open 23 hours everyday! It has been popular since it opened over twenty years ago. They even have a Brazilian Sunday Party where they have lots of music and food every Sunday!
The Strand is my favorite bookstore in the city. I could spend all day there. They have books on any subject you can think of! I wish I had time to stop right now!
When I am in the East Village I love to stop by Paul’s for a burger! Peaches recommended it to me quite awhile ago and I have been going ever since. Sometimes she will meet me and we split a side order of sweet potato fries!
Here is a good use for all your old tea canisters! First, buy a small plant and fill the canister with potting soil and then plant and water. Give them to your friends as gifts!
It’s berry season and you can make a fast dessert with fresh berries, angelfood cake and whipped cream!
This week I went to the Metropolitan Museum Museum of Art to see the Augustus Saint-Gaudens sculpture show. It was fantastic! He was an American sculptor that worked in New York, Paris, and New Hampshire. He was commissioned for over 20 public monuments, including two of my favorite pieces, Abraham Lincoln and Diana, which was the female figure for the tower of the old Madison Square Garden. It was a great show! Check out some quick snaps I took from my iPhone below!
Until next time!
